Country house renovation
At Wapsbourne Manor, a Grade II listed 16th-century manor in East Sussex, the entire building needed a comprehensive refurbishment: a whole house renovation that also adapted it for use as a House of Multiple Occupancy.
We replaced the roof completely using locally sourced, reclaimed Horsham stone, restored the timber frame with breathable insulation panels, and used lime render to replace inappropriate modern materials.
The reclaimed stone kept the look of the original roof and honoured the traditional materials of the region.
Breathable insulation improves energy efficiency without trapping moisture in the timber frame.

At Downash Manor, a manor farm, we converted a redundant roof space into a bright living area, framed and finished in oak, with rooflights set into the slope.
Around the original brick chimney, the oak frame ties the new room into the character of the older building.
Period cottages
At Gable End Cottage, a period home renovation meant a full refurbishment with major structural repairs to both the timber frame and stonework, and the exposed oak beams repaired and finished by hand.
Careful joinery lets the cottage's original features take centre stage, from the leaded windows to the low beamed ceilings.
At Lancing Cottage, we updated a period cottage for comfortable modern living: a bespoke oak staircase, a loft room framed in oak with rooflights and a new en-suite, a bathroom refurbishment, a new oak porch with leadlight windows, and new oak windows and doors.
