Oak garages
We design and raise oak framed garages, outbuildings and garden structures, as builders working across Brighton, Surrey and West Sussex.
At Common House, an estate with a 17th-century manor house, we took down an old garage and greenhouse and replaced them with a two-car port garage, storage, and an oak framed staircase on the outside leading up to a workspace.
We recycled and reused as much of the original material as we could, and designed the new garage to suit the manor house beside it.
Each green oak frame is designed for its site and pegged by hand, with the joints left on show.
As builders with a complete in-house service, we design and raise each one ourselves.
The same traditional joinery and conservation-led care go into new work as into old.

Pool houses, pergolas and porches
An oak framed outbuilding can be a pool house or a garden room as well as a garage.
Our pool house was built around an oak frame made for that site and that client, to house an indoor swimming pool, with hand-cut green oak trusses and every joint finished by hand.
At Common House we also built an oak pergola for the manor's rose garden, with an open frame the climbing roses grow through.
It's made from high-quality oak, left in its natural finish.
For another garden outbuilding, we designed and built an external oak staircase up to its first floor.
At Lancing Cottage, we added a new oak porch with leadlight windows.
