Conservation-led, with our own team
We carry out listed building restoration, returning buildings to their original glory with traditional techniques and materials, such as breathable lime render, that honour their historical significance.
Every job follows one principle: maximum retention, minimum intervention. We keep as much original fabric as we can, and only repair or replace where we have to.
We run a complete in-house service, including our own conservation carpenters, and we take pride in delivering high quality workmanship, attention to detail and excellent customer service.
Where a building is listed, whether for a barn conversion or a design and build project, we advise on heritage regulations and planning permissions, put in the listed building consent application, and work with conservation officers, heritage consultants and your architect.
Our work on listed buildings won Sussex Heritage Trust Awards in 2024 and 2025, and was Highly Commended in 2026.
What we work with
Specifications come from the buildings, not catalogues.
- Breathable lime render, applied wherever damp could be trapped behind cement render, so the building breathes naturally
- Oak frame and joinery, the same hand-finished joints and traditional construction used in our oak framed garages, with the connections left visible
- Reclaimed Horsham stone, used on the manor house roof reconstruction as part of the renovation: local sourcing, regional craft
- Hardwood windows, part of our listed building restoration work, because softwood replacements on listed properties never last
- Breathable insulation, used in renovation of period homes, which improves energy efficiency without trapping moisture in the timber frame
- Flintwork conservation, with damaged flintwork repaired to blend cleanly with the original
- Crittall-style windows, a sensitive modern intervention where the listing allows
- Hand-cut timber joints: mortice and tenon, dovetails and pegged connections. Carpentry as the building was originally made.
